The plaintiff, a New York resident, was at a rehabilitation facility having previously sustained a stroke.  While there, he was caused to fall as a result of his cane being struck by a ball thrown from another patient who was performing rehabilitation exercises.  He suffered a fractured hip which, fortunately, did not require surgery.  A Manhattan jury awarded the plaintiff the above amount, after finding the facility was negligent in the manner they performed the exercises.
